As part of the Freedom of Information (FOI) program of the Makati Business Club, in partnership with Layertech Software Labs, Inc., Bicol University, and the OCDex Public Data Analytics (PDA) Network, the Philippine Budget Visualizer was developed to help businesses, civil society organizations, and the general public, better understand the Philippine Budget. The Dashboard uses official datasets from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), primarily the National Expenditure Program (NEP) and General Appropriations Act (GAA) datasets.

The launching was supported by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Sec. Ivan John Uy, and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary, Sec. Amenah Pangandaman. Meanwhile, Layertech Labs Data Scientist and President Frei Sangil presented the Public Data Analytics Network and its activities and gave a live demonstration of the now-live PH Budget Visualizer.

Secretary Uy of DICT and Secretary Pangandaman of DBM both lauded the efforts of MBC, Layertech, Bicol University, and the PDA Network, for the development of the PH Budget Visualizer and shared corresponding government programs in line with Open Data and FOI.

Frei Sangil, on behalf of the PDA network, demonstrated the features of the PH Budget Visualizer. Frei Sangil also answered questions from the audience regarding the integration of feedback into the dashboard, the level of disaggregation of the data, and ensuring the integrity of the datasets used in the dashboard.
