“Do not bounce back. Bounce forward.” Mr. Blair Panong, Sr. Trade and Industry Development Specialist of DTI-Bohol reminded the attendees during the online MOU signing between Layertech Labs and Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The partnership aims to equip selected MSMEs with the Business Suite software, technical support, as well as e-learning and e-workshop related to e-commerce and the use of information communications technology. The project aims to help women micro-entrepreneurs maximize opportunities in the digital economy, by providing them both software and skills tailor-fit to their needs and the barriers they are facing. This is especially crucial in the inclusive local economic recovery from the effects of COVID-19 lockdowns.
Mayor Baba Yap of Tagbilaran city graced and supported the MOU signing event, expressing the support of Tagbilaran city in initiatives that would help their constituents, especially those facing barriers to entry into the digital economy. Similarly, Mr. Serge Andal, Chief of Party at USAID-Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) welcomed the participants and expressed support to the partnership.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr. Reginald Ong of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ms. Frei Sangil of Layertech Labs.
The partnership was facilitated by USAID-SURGE Women and Gender Development (WGDP) programme.
