Data Scientist and Cybersecurity Researcher Frei Sangil Shares Insights on AI Safety at the 5th National Youth Leadership Summit on Safer Cyberspace

Pasig City, Philippines — The 5th National Youth Leadership Summit (NYLS) on Safer Cyberspace, organized by CyberGuardiansPH (CGPH) in partnership with the Pasig City Government, brought together young leaders, educators, and cybersecurity advocates for a two-day program held on November 22–23, 2025, at the Buting Elementary School Gymnasium.

One of the featured contributors was Layertech’s Data Scientist and cybersecurity research professional, who served as both a speaker and panelist, sharing expert insights on strengthening community-level digital safety amid rapid technological change.

During her talk, “Community Resilience in the Age of AI: A Guide to Online Safety,” she emphasized the need for parallel initiatives on human skills development to ensure that the use of technology does not backfire in communities and organizations. In addition, Frei highlighted the need for an enabling environment to sustain these tech security initiatives.

In addition to the short talk, Frei joined the expert panel “Weaving the Safety Net: Finding Sources of Support Online?” The discussion explored the accessibility of trustworthy online assistance, the role of schools and local government units in incident response, and the need for stronger youth-centered digital support ecosystems. Panelists also examined the challenges young Filipinos face in seeking help during online harassment, fraud, or cyberbullying incidents.

The NYLS event gathered participants from across different sectors, all united in the goal of promoting safe, responsible, and community-driven digital practices. Throughout the program, organizers stressed that cyber safety is not only a technological issue but a shared responsibility across families, institutions, and local communities.

CGPH and the Pasig City Government expressed appreciation for the partners and speakers who contributed to the summit’s success, reaffirming their commitment to empowering youth leaders in building a safer cyberspace.
