This International Day of Women and Girls in Science, February 11, 2025, Layertech Data Scientist and Co-Founder Frei Sangil delivered a lecture on the actual applications of Information Communications Technology (ICT) that Layertech spearheaded and/or collaborated with, and the opportunities and latest trends in ICT especially for Women.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)’s Unboxing Stem Professions: A Day in the Life of Women in Science Forum, is an event held to guide, inspire, and prepare high school students for future careers in Science and Technology. The event is held in cooperation with the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PHILAAST), DOST- Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), DOST- Science and Technology Information Institute (STII), and National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).
In her 20-minute lecture, Frei shared first-hand experiences as a woman in Science and Technology, and how the challenges persist in today’s time. Frei also highlighted the programs of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and how the private sector can work with governments to address this gap.
At the end of her lecture, and during the question and answer, Frei offered Layertech’s programs and tools to advance inclusion in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, especially in marginalized communities.
