Layertech Labs Facilitates AI Workshop on Democratic Resilience at CALD International Political Party Workshop in Bangkok

October 31, 2026 | Bangkok, Thailand

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform institutions, political processes, and public decision-making, the ability to understand and responsibly harness these technologies is becoming increasingly important for strengthening democratic institutions.

On October 31, 2026, Frei Sangil, Director for Science and Technology of Layertech Labs, facilitated a three-hour technical workshop titled “AI Tools for Democratic Resilience” in Bangkok, Thailand. The session was conducted as part of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) International Political Party Workshop, bringing together political party leaders and representatives from different countries to explore the opportunities and challenges of AI in democratic governance and political organizations.

Exploring Practical AI Applications for Political Parties

The three-hour workshop combined a one-hour lecture and live demonstration with two hours of interactive breakout discussions and participant presentations. This format allowed participants to move beyond theoretical discussions and explore how accessible AI technologies could be applied to their respective political and organizational contexts.

Drawing on her experience in data science, artificial intelligence, and technology implementation, Sangil introduced participants to fundamental AI concepts and demonstrated practical tools that political parties can use to improve their operations. Topics included the use of AI for research, information management, strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, and organizational efficiency.

The session also explored how AI-powered tools can help political organizations better understand public concerns, process information, support policy development, and make more informed strategic decisions.

Putting Responsible AI at the Center of Democratic Resilience

Beyond the practical applications of AI, the workshop emphasized the importance of responsible technology adoption, particularly within democratic institutions.

Discussions highlighted key considerations such as transparency, accountability, sustainability, data privacy, and appropriate safeguards against the misuse of AI. Participants also reflected on the potential risks of these technologies, including misinformation, manipulation, and the concentration of technological power.

The discussions reinforced the need for political organizations to approach AI not simply as a tool for modernization, but as a technology that must be guided by democratic principles and public interest.

Strengthening Democratic Institutions Through Technology

The breakout discussions and participant presentations provided an opportunity for political representatives from different countries to exchange perspectives, identify common challenges, and consider practical ways of integrating AI into their organizational strategies.

A central message emerged from the workshop: AI should not simply make organizations more technologically advanced; it should help make their processes more informed, effective, inclusive, and accountable.

For Layertech Labs, the engagement reflects its continuing commitment to advancing the practical and responsible use of artificial intelligence, data science, and emerging technologies. By bringing technical knowledge into conversations on democratic governance, Layertech aims to contribute to building institutions that are better equipped to navigate an increasingly digital world.

As AI continues to evolve, ensuring that its benefits strengthen rather than undermine democratic institutions will remain an essential part of the conversation.
