Panel discussions mostly revolved around the need for MSMEs to digitalize and innovate, amid the rapid global digitalization trends and growing use of disruptive technologies. Sangil stressed the need to continue exploring digital technologies and emerging technologies to keep businesses relevant, up to date, and competitive in the digital economy. The panel also raised concerns about the risks and costs associated with digitalizing business operations for MSMEs. Sangil responded by sharing new business models and service-on-demand models that make access to top-of-the-line digital technologies more feasible for smaller players. Sangil shared examples of best practices and free, open-source tools, highlighting that digitalization is not about using the most advanced technologies, but about finding technologies that work for your specific business needs and budget.
Sangil also spotlighted the Harnessing the Power of the Digital Economy course, co-developed with the Center for International Private Enterprise, as a beginning resource for the MSMEs interested in securely exploring opportunities in the digital economy.
