Layertech Labs Signs MOU with General Santos City, facilitated by USAID, for the MSME Digitalization Project

Facilitated by USAID-Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) Project, Women’s Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP) Initiative, Layertech Labs signed a memorandum of understanding with the City Government of General Santos to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) streamline operations using digital tools. Layertech pledged to give out FREE B/RMC software copies to select women business owners in General Santos, as well as free access to e-learning materials and workshops that specifically capacitate women entrepreneurs to leverage data and Information Communications Technologies (ICTs) in their business operations.

Hosted by Ms. Roxanne Facurib of CEMCDO GenSan, the virtual launch and MOU signing were attended by Hon. Ronnel Rivera (General Santos City, City Mayor), Mr. Jude Constantine Jaugan (DTI Region XII Director), Mr. Leonard Flores (Head of City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office of GenSan), Mr. Sergio Andal, Jr. USAID SURGE Project Chief of Party (represented by Mr. Celso Enriquez) Layertech’s Frei Sangil (President and Tech Director), and Mr. Celso Enriquez (USAID SURGE Component 3 Lead).

Ms. Adelyn Yucamo, head of the Special Projects Division of the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office, gave the selection criteria for the MSME selection.

Legazpi city-based entrepreneurs, Ms. Maria Renee Gregorio-Masaganda of Cafe Pedro, and Ms. Merlynd Quiniano of JMPQ Herbal Products shared their experiences with using the digital tool, with MSMEs in GenSan.
